You like drillin’ holes?

***If you’re looking for THE BIG ONE, my now-defunct newsletter about creative living, you can find those posts under the Archive tab***

TOOLBOX is a weekly newsletter about cobbling together a home with very limited technical experience. Here’s a post that explains what inspired this whole thing.

Every Tuesday, we’ll talk home DIYs, what actually constitutes a “renter-friendly” hack, renovation fails, hanging stuff on the wall, etc.

TOOLBOX is for you if you’re:

  • a fan of funny newsletters

  • curious about DIY but chilled to the bone by HGTV personalities

  • a ne’er-do-well renter

  • just sort of a generally sick and twisted little lad

What to expect

As a free subscriber, you’ll get newsletters from me on Tuesdays featuring a detailed assessment of how I’m cobbling together my apartment/forfeiting my security deposit/betting it all on my half-charged power drill <3

I’m pausing paid subscriptions for the time being. Aren’t you LUCKY

TOOLBOX is written by me, Lillian Stone.

I’m an editor, journo, author and humor writer based in Brooklyn. I’m a regular contributor to outlets like Slate, GQ, The New Yorker, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and The Onion. I’ve been dabbling in rental hacks since 2018. Things have… escalated… from there.

My first book, EVERYBODY’S FAVORITE, is available wherever books are sold from Dey Street Books, a HarperCollins imprint.
